pointer is a varible which store the address location. Pointer is faster than normal variable.
In C, for dynamic memory allocation(calloc(), malloc()) we have to use the pointer. Similarly, any type of operation associated with a file (for example, opening, closing and reading), we have to use pointer.
In case of function call (call by value vs call by address), we have to use pointer in case of call by address.
Elements of array are reffered by pointer. we are also used pointer in structure. Though pointer is a complicated one but it makes the program faster.
