There has been a long history of the correlation between German and English language. It is quite apparent that these two languages have many words derived from each other. Even in English, we can find many words that were derived from German words. It is believed that old English and old German was quite similar during the 5th century. However, like any other language English evolved and by the 7th century, the old English borrowed quite a few words from Latin.

Here are some examples to help you understand better.
1. Kindergarten (Garden for children): Derived from two words: Kinder, which means children, and Garten, which means the Garden.
2. Iceberg: It is derived from the word “Eisberg”, meaning Mountain of ice.
3. Wunderkind: It is also a German word which means a Wonder Child.
4. Angst: It means fear.
5. Uber: We are all familiar with this word. But, very fewer people know that it is also a German word, which means (above/beyond).

Similarly, if you wish to find more words which have originated from the German language, then you can visit Wiktionary, a free dictionary. Also, there are multiple blogs and free tools available that could help you find words. All you have to do is research a bit as the answers are one click away.
Hope this helps you!
