How to prepare for GMAT Quantitative (Math) Section?

When beginning with the quantitative /maths portion of GMAT exam, its important to note that, time is the chief game player here. As the number of questions and the time allotted is fixed, its alone time management that determines your GMAT quantitative score. How to prepare for GMAT Quantitative Math Section?

Attend classes Learning a subject like maths is not easy. Its recommended you take up a tuition for the GMAT quant / maths section. On one hand, a teacher will help you to brush the basics while your friends in the class, and also be of help. They can help you to solve complex problems and also supply you with extra study materials of GMAT exam. Go chapter wise Study material for GMAT quant / maths section is many. You can start from test papers, or go for online classes. Yet the most systematic and right way to begin with is, going chapter wise. That will help you learn both basics and advance maths. Also, there remains no scope of you missing out on any specific maths chapter. Use pen and paper only As mentioned earlier, GMAT exam does not allow the use of calculators. Nor any other electronic equipment like cellphones or computer can be used that will aid you in the quant section. Hence, its suggested that when you practice the maths / quant section before GMAT exam - you only use pen and paper. This will help you on the final test day of GMAT exam. Practice test/ mock exams Online or offline, practice of GMAT quant section are available every year. You can also ask your GMAT teacher to prepare set of practice questions for you. Mock test is another option in hand. Collect these GMAT study materials and solve quant section of GMAT exam from these sources. It will make you confident and also enable you finish your paper in time. Special focus : Data sufficiency A special and specific portion of maths that comes along with GMAT paper every year is the Data Sufficiency section. Data sufficiency aims to test a candidate’s gauge relevance capabilities. You need to spend ample time and effort to master the data sufficiency chapter of GMAT exam.
