* The sun.misc.Unsafe API this is a private API in JDK 8 that was shared to be public in JDK 9. this is used in low level programming. the use case is in platform like FX trading where the timing are in nanos and then the over all end to end flow is allowed in micros. People forget how fast java can be, its prety close to C++ and if you are not an expert in C++ it can end being faster for you.

* how using lambda expressions the code will get optimised, the lambdas may very well be taught as syntactical sugar but in many cases gets optimized by compiler by inlining. see such optimizations by decompiling code you will be surprised.

There are many such features which are lesser known rather than "unknown" just digging deeper in topics will make you realise more of them.
