Section 16.1: In this section, you will learn why managing and carefully using natural resources is important, and how they can be used in a sustainable manner. You will also learn how solar energy is processed, how exploitation of natural resources is leading to environmental damage, five R’s to save the environment- ‘Reuse, Recycle, Repurpose, Reduce and Refuse’, etc.
Section 16.2: In this section, you will learn what biodiversity hotspots are; the measure of the biodiversity of an area, different forms of life, the aim of conservation of biodiversity, stakeholders and their goals in conserving forests, management of forests, Chipko Movement, etc.
Section 16.3: In this section, you will learn about the necessity of water. What are dams and the need to build them- the way they impact the economy, environment and society? You will also learn about the concept of water harvesting, its techniques and importance; how groundwater can be protected.
Section 16.4: In this section, you will learn about the sustainable management of coal and petroleum. You will also learn how these are formed, increasing consumption of these resources and the need to use them carefully; global warming, etc.
