We are able to see the color whose visible ray falls into our eyes. The rays from the sun get scattered by small dust particles or water droplets or other molecules in the air . Blue light gets scattered the most because of its shorter wavelength. So, even though rays ofndifferent colors fall into our eyes.. blue rays are lot more in no. So the optical nerve of our eye recieves the signal for blue the most.

The phenomenon of scattering of light helps to explain the blue color of sky

  1. Scattering of light takes place when size of the scattering object (such as air molecules) is very very small as compared to wavelength of light
  2. According to Rayleigh's law of scattering, the amount of scattering is inversely proportional to λ4.
  3. Thus when light from sun travels through earth's atmosphere, the different wavelengths get scattered from their path through different amounts obeying Rayleigh's law of scattering.
  4. Since wavelength of blue color is approximately half the wavelength of red color, the scattering of blue light is about 24 times more than red light.
  5. Due to this blue color predominates and the sky appears blue.

Because Blue colour is scattered more and of smaller wavelength.
Comments

Since, the blue colour has low wavelength (lower the wavelength more the scattering) and is also more prominent to our eyes with respect to other lower wavelengths, the sky appears blue.

Sunlight reaches Earth's atmosphere and is scattered in all directions by all the gases and particles in the air. Blue light is scattered more than the other colors because it travels as shorter, smaller waves. This is why we see a blue sky most of the time.

Scattering of light. White light is composed of 7 colours VIBGYOR out of which V end scatters the most. When a particle greater in size than the wavelength of that colour comes in the path of that coloured light, the light in that case cannot overcome the obstacle and scatters. Compare it to 7 individuals...

Why is only the speed of light constant in all frames of reference?

It is a fundamental postulate of Einstein's particular theory of relativity. We found no evidence opposing this until now. It is confirmed later in many experiments.
